Well what does ‘better’ mean? normally if this statement comes from an existing client it means they want more website visitors, these example exchanges between an Essex website design company and Essex based business owner demonstrate that better means more visitors.
[Website Owner] We’re definately getting loads of enquiries through the website. We’ll still be getting some updates done soon as we want the website to be better
[Website Design Company] Good to know the website is bringing in enquiries but I know you can never have enough, seen your google / bing and yahoo listings are holding up pretty well and some slipping slightly where the competition have done work on their sites so the more time, effort, work you put into the site the better for now and the future.
[Website Owner] Just letting you know that i’ll be sending you over some changes I want for the website over the next couple of weeks. I’ll go through it page by page and let you know what I want changed, We have got loads of new photos to add as well. Any advice from you will be welcomed on how to make the site better by keeping ahead of the competition in the search engines.
Talking of which, another one of our ex-staff has started up on her own. Her website has only been live a couple of weeks, but already, if you put in a search on google for [search term removed] she is right at the top of page 1. It’s a real average looking website, but i’m just wondering how she’s acheived this. Would it benefit us to put more references to [key search term] on our home page, as this is barely mentioned and its the most common search term.
[Website Design Company] You dont need to worry about her search engine positioning at the moment as you are seeing ‘personalised’ search results as you have clicked on here a few times which changes that websites ‘natural’ position. It’s important that you are interested in your website’s position but dont worry about the ‘details’ like keyword placement and frequency of key search terms on the page as this is what we do for a living and can take care of all of this for you during an SEO program. Here are the SEO options that I worked out before and have added some, they are still relevant and recommended:
Had a quick review of your site and here are some recommendations for your site if you wanted to improve it which should improve its position in the search engines:
1, Add a Blog >> full details An integrated blog will cost £175 (2011 prices) and allow you to add as many pages as you want with photos of your services and products (and you can optimise these pages yourself with a little help from me to point you in the right direction)
2, Individual SEO / website updates – These have previously been suggested and can be performed individually or as part of a full SEO program. Its generally recommended to regularly add some extra pages to the site: perhaps have more testimonials pages, faqs and galleries, cost is dependent on exactly what you want as you know we can do the text for you also.
Previous suggestions
a) Name each of your images in your Galleries specifically and uniquely the image galleries are on these pages:
you will need you to provide a unique title and description for each image, feel free to throw in place names and types of services you offer.
b) Add more testimonials for your clients comments page, we could add another page for this.
c) Add more questions / answers to your faqs pages
You should give us lots more and possibly give us more every 4 months going forward.
4, PPC campaign – Perhaps have a Google PPC advert you can start this on a small budget of £30 per month, PPC details here
5, Read this SEO Checklist and action as many points as you can
6, Lets us promote your site, via a SEO project. A very important aspect of this program for you is the link building, as the more relevant links you have to your site the better for its ranking
7, Create extra / new pages relevant to your services:
We can create your webcopy as part of an SEO program meaning you end up with a huge amount of search engine friendly / relevant / unique webcopy / text for 10-15 new pages
We have other ideas for your website should you wish to discuss adding / developing them further, and happy to discuss your options. If you want to come around during the week and hear my ‘what I would do if I had your website / business’ then you can pop around for a chat.
