Very rarely we get website clients move to another website design company, this has only happened twice normallly the result of a sales phone call or email from a desperate web design company and when it happens invariably the visitor numbers fall and the website owners end up spending more than they expected on a ‘poorer service’ and less functional website, this example conversation is no exception as the company lost 40% of website visitors over the 6 months after they moved website designers.
[Website Owner] I have now opened my shop and have decided to go with a new pre-designed E-Commerce Website, mainly due to the Software they offer (aimed at my business section) and have a B2B element tagged onto it.   To get the new site up and running, I have been requested by the new company to change the IPS tag or provide login details to the Control Panel.  I hope this is something you can change / provide.
[Website Designers] Happy to help you transfer, but sad as you are only the 2nd client to transfer away from us in 10 years. You understand that this will totally transfer your domain / email / website and we will be totally dis-associated on a business level and all your website / email / domain will be your responsibility this seems an extreme / un-expected and strange decision from yourselves and will happily explain to you why I dont think this is a good idea for you if you call me.
I have to say that after looking at the ecommerce website provider you are going to I think you are making a mistake and this is a very costly long term commitment, in the first year the website will cost you over £1000 (plus hosting) then every year it will cost £900 (plus domain registration and hosting) and you could be tied to their payment provider and then be open to their cost increases as it’s a bespoke / closed platform. The websites seem very old fashioned and are not responsive (not mobile friendly) which seems a very strange situation these days, especially as over 60% of your website visitors are via tablets and smartphones. I don’t see what element of the website is business specific either. Hope you appreciate I only have you and your business’ well-being in mind here and sorry if I have already mentioned these points previously.
Assume you have already made the commitment to go with them and will help you transfer the website, there is a final admin / account closing admin fee with the invoice for this attached. Once this is provided I will backup your site / update the transfer tag (IPS Tag) / provide you with the Google Analytics code (to ensure your site health / visitors are monitored giving you your monthly report going forward).
[Business Owner] I understand your concerns and if this does not work out for any reason (I’m not tied into anything), I will most certainly come back to you as you have been amazing to us as a business. I’ve made my decision on making it easy for me to use and can update and ‘tweek’ the website easily.  I was looking for the easiest option and the decision was not made lightly.  But a decision had to be made for the next new and exciting phase of my business. I have transferred the money into your Bank Account and want to thank you for your help and advise over the last 6 years. I guess once the transfer has been made the old hosting company will be gone.  Can you advise when this will happen.
[Website Designers] Good luck and happy to help if you need me. We have updated the IPS tag just now. We are now waiting the email confirmation that we will acknowledge when it arrives then the Tag gets updated instantly and your new website design company will know what to do, ensure you give them the code below to ensure you continue to monitor your website stats and continue to get reports sent to you
