I have heard that a few times, in general we cover all bases when we conduct a website optimisation / promotional project for you (often called SEO – Search Engine Optimisation)
Here are a few questions and answers from a website promotion talk we done recently
[Website Owner Question] Is it possible to have for example 1000 pictures on the site so they are indexed on Google images although they are not directly accessible from the site? Does that make sense? Theory being we have as many pics as possible on Google images in the hope of getting a lot more site visitors through that channel?
[Delicious Answer] We would recommend you have lots of images on the site but they need to be accessible from the site to be indexed in Google, doing anything ‘sneeky’ like trying to mask images from the visitor but showing them to Google is classed as ‘very bad’ 🙂
In general this comes under the SEO work we will be doing on the site and 20 well optimised images will be better than 1000 random non-optimised / random images.
[Website Owner Question] Out of curiosity could we set something up so that if people were searching for example ‘food’ on Google images, a picture from our websitewould be displayed and upon clicking this would divert them to our website. Again I am not fully sure how the whole process works and whether this is all standard with the website.
[Delicious Answer] By default if the site is build correctly with original / well optimised images they will eventually be indexed in Google Images. Indeed, we have one site that gets more than 50% of its visitors from the Google image search.
