Spam emails, we hate them and so do our clients, we can try to reduce them by making our contact forms with an ‘anti-spam’ measure and encrypting the email address in the website code but at the moment we have to live with them to a certain extent, here is a recent client inquiry and our response:
Website Client: Just wondering is there anything you can do from your end mate in blocking these emails as I don’t no where they have got our email address from but I have had 7 or 8 messages the same person from who ever this is in the last 3 days. I’m guessing it’s an automated message and there’s some kind of catch with it but the thing that is doing my head in is this is my information email address for my company and I don’t no how to try stopping it.
Delicious Webdesign: Unfortunately the longer your website is online and the higher it ranks in the search engines the more ‘spambots’ pick up the email addresses associated with it, if the spam was coming through your contact form on your website I could say we could upgrade your contact form for you so it needs a ‘human’ to submit the form due to a question or graphic that needs authenticating. We always build contact forms with anti-spam measures as standard, but older forms do not have this built-in sometimes.
Another suggestion, if you use windows live mail as your mail client you can right click on a sender and block them by adding them to your blocked list (right click on message then junk email > add sender to blocked sender list)
