[Business / Website Owner] I am interested in a website package. This would be an Adult Industry website for escorts, but I will also need to have made up different size banners for Adult Directory advertising and listings. If this is just a simple graphic, would this be an extra cost. I understand if the banners are more complicated, i.e. flash animation that I would have to pay additional charges. Also will our website be fully responsive to all devices, mobiles and tablets? If you could give me any more information that would be great. To be honest I really do not know how all this works. Only what I have researched online. Here is a website I like the look of.  I have 10 girls at the moment but would like to expand my business in the future. How much would it cost to have a website like this. Could you explain a bit more about what you do and what you can offer me.
I am based in Essex. I do wish to be able to take payments online for my products and I do use twitter and Facebook so I would like these functions on my website.
[Website Designers 39] Thank you for your enquiry.  We’re now trading as a new company – same people but a different name! I just left a message on your mobile asking if you could give me a call; I think it would be useful to have an initial chat about what you’re after so that we can discuss how we can help.  If you can, could you give me a ring.
Our quotation for a website similar to  would be £4,000 – £4,500  For that, you would get:
Bespoke design based on an agreed, detailed design brief
General information pages (let’s say up to 5), for instance Rates and FAQs, Contact, About
Our Ladies section, categorised as required (could be the same as Night & Day i.e. Blonde, Brunette, Mature), with each lady having her own profile page
Profile page will include multiple images displayed in a gallery-style, video (if required) and copy about the lady
Blog or News section, showing stories or articles
Content Management System throughout, meaning you can manage all the content on the site whenever you want (includes profiles, images, copy and news stories)
Site will be “search engine ready”, meaning all your copy will be picked up and indexed correctly by Google
Fully responsive design, which means it looks perfect on mobiles and tablets
Full training will be provided on using the Content Management System
If there are other features that you would like to include – online booking with online payments would seem to be an obvious one – then we can add these to the scope of work.  There would be an additional cost for this, so let me know of any ideas you have and we can cost them for you.
Website hosting
We would like to host the website for you.  This will be on our managed, dedicated server with market leaders Rackspace and is renewed annually.
Examples of our work

Hi Lauren.
Thanks for your interest.
We can provide the services mentioned in your message, but it is very difficult to provide a quote without a little more info 🙂
Could you please call so we can discuss your project a little further?
You can call me direct on 07971 806715, or shoot us your number and a preferred time to call and I can call you?
Looking forward to speaking with you soon.
Sorry for the delay in getting back currently abroad at the mo for half term.
We can easy produce a site like the one you linked to (although it would be a lot more pro :).
Do you have a number I can contact you on as there is more I need to discuss with you about it?
I am back in the office on Tuesday and could give you a quick call then?
[Website Designers 43]
To estimate exact price we need to know exact size and count of the banners.
Also can we take a look on your old website? What changes you consider in your old website?
[Business / Website Owner 2]
I was wondering if you could help me. I have a small business in selling window blinds and I would like an ecommerce website built so I can sell my products online. There are 4 types of blinds to choose from in a choice of different fabrics. I hope to expand my business once the website is up and running. Is this something you can help me with?
How much does an e-commerce website cost with SEO and promotion and how long does it normally take for a website to be completed?
To be honest, I really do not know much about how it all works, so I will try to give you as much information as possible and then if you could give me an idea of what you can do for me then this would be great.
The 4 types of blinds that I want to supply are:
Vertical blinds
Roller blinds
Venetian blinds
Roman blinds
These will all come in many different patterns and colours and will all be made to measure. I would like my customers to be able to pay by debit/credit card but will they also be able to purchase my products directly via a secure payment method such as PayPal? I will only be selling my products in the UK. Any other information you can give me will be great.
[Website Designers 44]
Many thanks for your email and your interest in ourselves for your new website. I have a few initial questions for you:
May I ask where you are located?
Is your target market local to you, nationwide or abroad?
What payment system do you have in mind? (e.g. PayPal/standard credit cards)
Are you VAT registered?
Do you already have a website for your business?  (What is the web address ?)
If so, do you intend this new e-commerce site to be in addition and totally separate to it?
Do you have all the content and high quality images required for the site or would you need copyediting and/or photography services?
I would like to clarify exactly what you mean by “SEO”. I would normally build a website to be search engine friendly so that it stands best chance of being crawled and indexed by Google and also incorporate analytics into it in order to be able to track performance and establish an initial baseline for further work once it has had some time to gather some initial data. Your content would need to be written to be relevant to the terms you would like to rank for as a starting point for ongoing SEO which would be an ongoing process which would be an additional cost.
What do you mean by “promotion”?
You say you initially have 4 products – how many variations (fabrics, colours etc) are there for each?
Are they fixed sizes or are they custom?
How many products would you expect to expand the site to include later? (What timescale(s) ?)
Is your target market just local to you in Essex or UK wide?
Are you VAT registered?
Do you already have a website for your business?  (if so what is the web address ?)
If so, do you intend this new e-commerce site to be in addition and totally separate to it?
Do you have all the content (words) and high quality images required for the site or would you need copyediting and/or photography services?
You say you initially have 4 products – exactly how many variations (patterns, fabrics, colours etc) are there for each?
How many products would you expect to expand the site to include later? (What timescale(s) ?)
Do you have a particular schedule / deadline in mind for the site to go live?
Do you have a business name?
Do you have logo/brand?
Do you have a domain name registered?
Can you give me an idea of the budget you have allocated for this project? (this will assist in identifying the possible options for a solution).
[Website Designers 45]
Happy to help you with your new website. I would have a few questions needed before I can give you an accurate quote.
Will the blind sizes be preset or do you want visitors to be able to enter
widths and heights and the cart to calculates the cost?
How many different fabrics do you intend having?
Will the site be mainly aimed at a local audience or national?
Ref SEO, we build websites that are search engine friendly from the outset, but there are many things we can do to improve your rankings if necessary. How far you wish to go with this will depend very much on your budget and expectations.
Probably easiest if I come and see you for a chat at some point to clarify exactly what you are looking for and give you some advice as to what is doable within a sensible price range. No obligation, and no salesman approach. In the meantime, have a look for some other sites that offer a similar cart experience to what you have in mind. Also think about colour schemes, logo etc.
We can create something with similar basic functionality for you. Including pricing by dimensions for width & height, filter by colour, etc.
Credit card processing and PayPal option no problem. We will set up the initial 4 categories as suggested, with up to 5 products in each to get you started. You will be able to add/edit more yourself through the back-end. As a ballpark price for you, £775.00 to build the website.
Domain and hosting for this would be £34.50 per year. Price assumes you are supplying all descriptive text, images and colour swatches for us to utilise. I should mention that the product measurements would be in mm or cm and not inches. Although this can be done, it would involve extra custom programming so would add to the costs. I can get you a price on that if necessary.
[Website Designers 46]
Yes we can definitely help. You don’t have too many products so you may not want to go down the “full blown” ecommerce route and just get a content management system (CMS) with ecommerce functionality.  You say you want to expand but how many products would this be. The full e-commerce systems are great but if you are selling 10 or less products I would normally go for a customised CMS.
Could do this for £800-1000. I can install an SEO tool for you which you can work away at, it fairly easy. What kind of promotion are you looking for? Google AdWords or social media? Dependant on the design I could build and launch the website in under a month but other factors can come into it like sorting the images and content etc which would come from your end.
I require 30% of the initial quote and the rest to be paid on completion.
I’ve had a look at the website you like and noticed on the product page there is a fitting options and sizes etc. Do you need exactly the same functionality, if so do you have an equation for working out the prices? Or are you working with predefined sizes etc?
Getting it like the website you like would require considerably more development and so pushes the cost up.
However if you are just working with pre-defined options and set prices then that wouldn’t increase the quote I gave you.
Either way I think it would be best if you go for a full ecommerce system as it allows for different product options, its more future proof and easier to add more ecommerce specific functionality.
To achieve a bespoke design like the website you like with predefined options etc would cost £1500. If you require the dynamic options, price per size etc like the website you like then it will be more expensive, around £2000.
Your customers could pay by credit card via PayPal or do you already have another payment provider in mind like Worldpay or Sagepay?
You can apply to Sagepay here they are probably one of the best and most trusted in the UK
You can also setup PayPal through Sagepay but they will explain that if that’s what you want. If you would rather still have the CMS website with selling functionality then my original quote stands unless you require the dynamic options as stated earlier.
Feel free to call me if you want me to go over anything or if you have more questions.
[Website Designers 47]  it was lovely to hear from you, thank you for the email. We can certainly build an ecommerce website for you with all the features that you mentioned. We specialise in building bespoke ecommerce websites for the price of non-bespoke sites, so
you will get a perfect fit for your requirements and it won’t be too costly.
In order to provide you with an actual quote we will need to have a brief chat with you about what you need from the website. However, in regards to how long it takes to build the website, that can vary (depending on what your needs are) from a week or so, to a couple of months at most. The majority of ecommerce websites are completed within a few weeks.
Please give me a quick call and we can chat briefly about what you need on the website and then I will give you a quote right there and then.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
We can set up the website to process payments via your PayPal account, that is fine. If you have videos of your blinds, we can use those on the website.
We can make the website so that they choose the type of blind that they need, then they would select the size, then on the page they can choose the colour or pattern from a drop down menu. Or we could add the different colours and patterns as different products for the
customer to browse through if you prefer. I have lots of different ideas that I could discuss with you to make the website really attractive.
[Website Designers 48]
We have a budget and full ecommerce system available. The full system has a lot more features and is more mobile and tablet friendly, although the budget system has everything you need to sell a range of simple products.
Both systems will change the product image when a different option is selected from the drop down menu.
Full ecommerce system £1350. We were established in 1999 and host over 500 websites. If you have any questions please ask.
I assume all purchases will require the ability for customer to enter sizes and then the system calculates the cost. rather than off the shelve sizes?
We would use a module which would display products similar to below, you would need to create a spread sheet with price variables.
The module isn’t part of the typical shopping cart system as most clients don’t require it. It is an £175 upgrade including installation
The shopping cart would link into PayPal or Payment Sense.  I suggest you use payment once the business is established as easier for customers. A standard PayPal account is fine for this; we can set this up for you.
[Website Designers 49]
Thank you for your enquiry and for thinking of us for this project. It would be great if we could discuss your requirements in a little more detail, is there a good contact number I can call you on today or tomorrow?  Or alternatively please feel free to call me at the office
This information is good, and I don’t need you to know how it all works as we’ll do that for you.  We are very good at developing a strategy for shouting about your brand to the farthest flung corners of the web. We realise that the success of your business is important to you and that makes it important to us. Our awesome, award-winning team of strategists, designers and developers have been making websites better since 2005. In addition to being technically brilliant we also have extensive skills in branding, logo design, style and colour that we’ll utilise to make you a stunner of a website. We are not just great web designers and developers, we are digital marketers, on a mission to produce a site that grabs attention and grows your business.
I’m confident that we can take your online presence to the next level by creating a website that becomes a valuable asset to your business.  We pride ourselves on delivering websites that are a true reflection of our client’s identity, as well as ensuring they meet all of your business objectives.  We partner with all of our clients, not just for the website project but we have an ongoing partnership with them all.  As a client you will have us as your digital arm, constantly looking at ways to improve your website and keeping it at the top of its game. Here are some examples to show you how our websites really reflect the company image and brand:-
Ideally you need to allow a budget of 10% of the annual revenue you are expecting from your business.  We would suggest you have a budget of at least £5K for an ecommerce site, but the cost is something we will have a better idea of when we chat through your requirements in a bit more detail.
We would love the opportunity to work with you on this project, let me know your thoughts, and also when would be good for you to maybe meet up or chat about the next steps.

Ballpark for the site is £6k – Using our transitional system and some bespoke elements for the blind ordering process.
I have attached some information for your reading pleasure.
Here’s some recently launched websites that use the aforementioned solution :-
Let me know if you’d like to meet and discuss your project further?
[Website Designers 51]
Thank you for your enquiry. Well with e-commerce websites, there really isn’t a shortcut! There is a lot involved from the start, it’s quite complex (from a design / development point of view) and so prices start at £750. That said with you only having a few products initially and wanting to expand your range eventually (I presume) then I could lower the cost to £600, that would include:
1) Domain Name registration
2) One year’s hosting and email services
3) Design and development (based around your preferences and chosen style) The site would be “Responsive” which means it would perform across all platforms from large res screens down to mobile phones.
4) Full training on how to use the backend admin system to update your products and use the product inventory
5) Initial SEO (That would include brief keyword research based around the chosen words/phrases you would like to be found under)
6) Social media integration (if required)
Further SEO costs would very much depend on your chosen keywords and how highly contested they are, whether you’d require localised phrases, for example “window blinds Essex” which are easier to get ranked than national ” window blinds” for example.
That’s it in brief, please don’t hesitate to call if you would like to discuss the above, or let me know and I’ll give you a call back.
Basically I can create an e-commerce website for you that would include all the options I listed. From domain name registration to training on how to update your website.
Without boring you with techie talk: In brief I would create the website on the WordPress platform which is a cms (content management system) I would then incorporate what is known as Woocommerce which is a plugin that creates the e-commerce functionality.
On that note, I think that would be perfect for your requirements as it has a nice feature which allows “swatches” which would basically allow customers to choose your different colours and patterns for each product.
Payment processing.
There are many payment processors out there that you can integrate into your website, from sagepay to worldpay to your banks own payment processors and so on. Obviously these all come with their own different charges. Some a monthly fee, some a monthly fee and transaction charges on each order…
It can be a bit of a minefield, so I suggest starting out with PayPal. Again with PayPal there are different options. There is PayPal Pro which last time I looked was around a 3% charge per transaction and £20.00 per month.
The cheapest option and the easiest to integrate is PayPal basic, that’s just around a 3% charge per transaction.
What’s the difference between PayPal Pro and PayPal basic I hear you ask? Well with PayPal Pro it allows you to integrate PayPal into your website in a better way. Basically when a customer is going through the check-out process, they never leave your website, it a more integrated option, whereas with PayPal basic, once they checkout they are then forwarded to the PayPal website. I’ve never found that to be a problem and would suggest using that for a starter. You can always upgrade or look into other payment options at a later date.
[Website Designers 52]  Yes I can certainly help you with this. Do you currently have a website I can take a look at? If not, don’t worry – where are you based? You will need an e commerce site where you can manage all your product data yourself and have full store control. You can see all the features included in our packages. I know there’s a lot to take in if this is your first website development project but don’t worry as that’s what I’m here for. I’ll get you all set up so you can concentrate on running your business and taking sales online.
I’d be happy to provide a quotation, please reply to this email and we’ll get cracking!
There’s plenty of information on our website about the features included with our e commerce websites but you don’t need to worry about any of the technical stuff as that’s  what I’m here for!
I think I’ve got a pretty good idea of what you require as I have experience with building a blinds ‘superstore’. I just need to ask you a few questions and then I’ll put together the full proposal:
In terms of sizes, can you give me an example of measurements (height and width, for example 4 x 4 etc) and would you require the product page to display a choice of sizes for the customer for example mm, cm and inches?
Following on from the above, do you want the customer to choose from pre-inputted sizes or enter their own to calculate a price? See, we start getting more complex here so I just need to get a good idea of your product range.
Please confirm if this correct – The customer will work through the site like this:
Choose type of blind – for example Roller Blind
Look through types of colours/patterns available
Selects chosen style and chooses size available or enters width and height to get price
Can add ‘up sell’s – accessories, extra bits (blind remote control etc) if they wish to basket along with chosen blind
You can have any payment gateway you wish, PayPal, SecureTrading, your Bank, whatever suits you and your costs. I do highly recommend PayPal as there are no monthly account fees and anybody can pay using any credit or debit card, even if you don’t have a PayPal account. You might want to check with your bank though and compare their monthly account fee and transaction fees to see which is better.
Can you show me another blinds website that does pretty much everything you want to do in terms of product display and of course one that you like?  What are your links with manufacturers – can you get hold of the product discs containing all the images fine?
And finally, in terms of budget, our e-commerce sites start from £1200 but I’ll be able to give you an exact cost estimate once you come back to me. I’m available all weekend so drop me an email when you get chance to have a think about these questions. Anything you want to more about, just ask
[Website Designers 53]
Thanks for the enquiry.
Before quoting we need a few more details from you to help us provide you with a price.
1. Do you have an existing site?
2. How many variants of the 4 products are there?
3. Do you have a logo?
4. Do you have hosting?
5. What is your go live date ambition?
6. Do you have imagery?
7. Are there any competitor sites you like?  If so, please list.
If you answer these for us we can give you an accurate quote and timeframe.
It’s certainly something we can do and it looks like you will be having 4 x 3 x ‘X’ number of products (variations) so we can give a ball park based on say 100 product variations.  Below is a snapshot but upon further interest we can do a full proposal for you outlining what we’ll do.
Snapshot
Branding (Logo for website and social profiles) £250 (add £100 if full stationery including business card and letterheads/comp slips)
Website with 100 product variations £1500
Hosting for year 1 – inclusive (£240/yr. thereafter includes 3 hrs free support)
Domain name – you purchase (estimated cost £5-10) we can recommend cheap providers
Pro email set up – inclusive
Social profile creation – inclusive (for your business we’d recommend Facebook, Twitter & Google+, maybe Pinterest and Instagram).
We take 50% as a deposit and the balance on completion.
I’d estimate this to take 4-6 weeks to complete with your assistance (imagery and content for the site).
We can set up a PayPal payment portal and offer marketing also which we could quote on post website completion (Social Media, SEO and PPC).
Other than that we can offer support via email, Skype, telephone and we’re in Brentwood if face-to-face meetings are your preference.
Our hourly rate is £50 so anything outside of the build setup would incur that fee.
You’ll be able to update the system backend with ease as we’ll use a CMS (content management system) called WordPress which is open source and very easy to use.
If this all sounds good, we can do a full proposal and or have a chat
Website + logo/branding £1750

Many thanks for your email. Yes, we’re very happy to help.  However, we do not offer SEO, but can certainly advise on it and get you in touch with the right people. Almost all of our E-Commerce websites are built within a system called Magento.  It is free to use and provides all of the back office functionality you’ll require – customer management, order management, product management etc.  It is easily extendable going forward and is completely customisable in terms of look and feel.
You would normally be looking at the development time of 3-4 weeks and a cost of approximately £900.   However, both those figures are dependent on any other pages you may need designing/developing.
Hopefully the above makes sense and is of interest.  Perhaps we arrange a time to meet in person?  It would be a good opportunity to show you want Magento offers.
[Website Designers 55]
Many thanks for your enquiry. Can you give me your number to discuss what you would like from your website. From what I read you need an ecommerce website design so people can buy directly for your website. Based upon this and what you have sent to me I have provided an estimation below.
Below I have summarised the functionality we would provide for your new ecommerce website;
Your new, ecommerce website will have a professional look and feel throughout. We would initially design a concept to see what you think and then make changes until you are 100% happy, then we would code the website for you.
We will design you a new Logo for your business.
You can add Unlimited products and categories / sub categories. You can add, edit or delete categories and products at any time. We would supply you an excel spreadsheet template to fill in the data of all of your products initially to make it easier for you. We then will upload this once it is filled out correctly.
Facebook integration – allow your customers to buy directly from your Facebook page!
Live Help on your site making it easier for customers to ask questions about their order (if required)
We would supply all stock images required
Search engine friendly urls that you control.
Promotional codes – you can create discount codes so users can get a discount for a repeat sale or just a special offer
Email newsletters – an inbuilt system that allows you to send bulk emails to customers – you could also put a promotional code into the email so you can track how successful it is
You can offer your customers more than one payment option such as Sagepay and PayPal
Loyalty points – give your customers points every time they spend so they can redeem against future purchases
We will design you a business card and a letterhead with your new branding – print is an additional cost if required
We will also customise Facebook and Twitter pages for you with your new branding
The cost for all of the above would be £1950 and we would require a 50% deposit and 50% at the end when the site goes live.
[Website Designers 56] It sounds like we would be a perfect fit for you and your business, is there a time that would suit you for a member of our sales team to give you a call? They will be able to answer these questions and tell you more about the eCommerce software we use.
Thank you for getting in touch 🙂
We were doing an offer where there is no set-up fee, which is usually £975. I would be happy to extend this for you because you initially made your enquiry last month.
Therefore, the solution would cost £65 per month with no set-up charge and no minimum commitment. We take our standard ecommerce layout and change the logo and colours to suit your brand. We then give you training at or offices in Ipswich (or over the internet if you prefer) on how to use the system to, add your products, shipping settings and order processing.
The monthly fee includes software licence, hosting, daily backups, security certificate, ongoing software security and feature updates.
I have attached the feature list of our ecommerce platform “evance”. If you have any questions or would like to go ahead with getting a site set-up please don’t hesitate to call me.
[Website Designers 57] We do provide ecommerce sites.  Do you have a number I can call you on tomorrow and go through some details?
Thanks again for getting in touch We can produce you a nice ecommerce shop to sell your blinds online, using PayPal. At the moment, we are running an October discount, which means you can get an online shop, with 2 years hosting for just £995 – normally £2000. If this is something of interest, please let me know and I can call you to discuss further, as the offer is only on until the end of the month.
[Website Designers 58] We could create you an ecommerce website for £2500 and the ongoing cost is £35 per month. I will send through a quotation with full details on it. Please would you send me the below through?   Your telephone number, business name and business
[Website Designers 59]   Ecommerce for window blinds – I would need to create a custom solution so users can select a size, fabric type and then choose colour.  I would also expect the user to be able to type in custom measurements.
Estimated cost for ecommerce development = £3995
SEO – Search engine optimisation cost will really depend on the keywords for search engine ranking. I would need a list of keywords which you want to rank high before I can quote for SEO work.
Promotion – I would recommend using popular social networks for promoting your business. I can offer you Social Network training which will allow you to take control of your business online promotions.
