I am a student studying a BSc Hons Degree in Web Applications Development (hoping to achieve a First) at Westminster University  and am required to find a work placement for my 3rd Year. This placement is a 12 month placement starting anywhere between June and August.

I would like to be able to undertake my placement at delicious-webdesign in Essex with you if possible, having looked around your website and some of your clients I feel that I could learn a lot from receiving a work placement with yourselves and believe that i could bring something new to the team if given the opportunity.

Just reviewing a website that we just took on for a redesign as it has been ‘incomplete’ for the last year and looking at the work involved to make it complete it would have only taken 1 hour to complete it so I told them it woul be advisable to have some text on the about us page, and on the front page  and asked them can you supply us with that? they said of course and within 2 hours the website was complete, now why was it left looking half finished for a year? The moral of the story is go the extra yard to finish what you start.

After more initial checks we found that the search engines have indexed the website and it was improving their visitor numbers month on month but because there is a lack of text on the site this has meant that overall the site  has not achieved a huge number of visitors, other ecommerce sites that started about the same time as this site that we designed now have twice the amount of visitors as they have supplied all the text and actively promoted their own sites on facebook, Google+ and Twitter.

The website we are taking overs is not currently ranked for their main target search terms, but told them not to worry as once we get working on the site improving it this will come in time and adding the new text to their pages will only speed this up.

Notes

• Data entry in the Admin back end is not included in our scope of work.
• Development will be done using Linux, Apache, PHP, MySQL. Your hosting server should support these platforms or we will use our hosting platform.
• Regarding your query about re-import of the Excel file: It will be a user-friendly option in the Admin panel where you can just upload the file(s) one at a time and click a button. We do not think it will need our involvement. Please note however that every time a Excel file is uploaded, the records are always appended, not overwritten. If you want to keep only the newly uploaded records, you can delete the already uploaded records through a Delete option, which will be provided.
• We request you to send us the specified excel files, if possible, so that we can analyze the same and come up with price revisions in case of any major hurdles.

I’m a freelance designer / IT tech for a IT company in Delhi, im currently looking at furthering my career in website design and feel like I am unable to do so with the company’s I currently work for. It has been a good last 7 months with them but I would like to work with a design only company not an all-rounder.

I have HTML, CSS, basic PHP (I’m teaching myself) SEO, WordPress, Joomla, Vbull and prestashop CMS skills, also Photoshop, illustrator and Xara 3d skills. I also can do Computer and MAC repairs and servicing and IT support

Im looking at growing in the design business, I would be happy to do really small jobs first to get me into your company as I want you to see my work. We often get asked how to transfer the website from the previous website design company, a typical question may be

[Website Client] Do you not need the EPP code / IPS tag key/code to operate/take over my web site? and once you have the okay from me what is the first step? Obviously I will need full access to my website email. Additionally, do i need to inform my existing provider/server?? that I am employing you to alter my web design or just leave it until we are ready to take it over.

We like to transfer immediately and develop directly on your website in a ‘test’ directory so you can see what we are doing but this isnt always necessary, so a typical reply may be

[Delicious Webdesign] Yes we will need to gain access of the domain from your previous provider or web registration company. This could be the final stage of the project, as until you are 100% happy with the design and build, we will not put the project on your domain name. Instead, we will build the project on a test server, so that nothing is launched until it is perfect.

Gaining control over your domain needs to be done lastly, so that you suffer minimal down-time on the website. Otherwise users will land on a “under construction” page, which will do you much more harm that keeping your old site live.

Your email will work until the last moment when we switch the site over to the new site, and then we will provide you with new email login details, so that you can manage your emails once we host your website.

Regarding informing your old website design company in Southend, you can simply leave it for a few weeks – and once the new site is nearing completion we can then make the switch. Otherwise we run the risk of them shutting the site down prematurely.

Once you are happy to proceed, I need to take some information from you, which I have listed below. Then I will book the project into our project management suite, which will generate an automatic email to you
