SEO offers from Essex Website Designers

Posted on January 12th, 2012 by James  |  Comments Off

Beware of SEO cowboys or link building scam emails or telephone calls, the following is a collection of those  received by clients – invariably they go on stating the obvious and promising to give a ‘comprehensive report’ that turns out to be anything but comprehensive:

——————
[Essex SEO Company]
I enjoyed exploring your website. I have prepared a  on your website’s online presence and its performance. If you are interested we can discuss on this report. I can schedule a online conference with you and share my desktop and show you the report. The report has important insights on:

How your competitors are doing?
How your Keywords are performing?
Number of indexed pages to your website?
Your current Pagerank.

Please forgive the direct approach I was looking at your website which currently has 4 links and a Open Site Explorer homepage score of 19/100. Your backlink profile (other websites that link to you) is the single most important factor determining where you rank in search engines. (You can see more details of your links at open site explorer)

The main targetted keyword for your website receives over 30,000 searches each month in the UK on Google alone. I wondered what difference it would make to your business if there was an increase in relevant / local traffic making it to your website that would manifest itself in more emails / phone calls and invariably sales.

Your title tag may not be optimised to position you to complete with websites of similar authority and subsequently drive the largest amount of targeted traffic possible.  Your website could see a significant increase in traffic by building links to it as well as optimising the structure and keywords of the content. I’d like to offer you a free in-depth website audit covering these and many other important factors along with what could be done to improve your current rank.

I’m sure you receive many generic sales emails offering business services. I hope in taking the time to find out a bit about your website before contact you will go some way to proving our SEO project is a credible professional business that goes the extra mile for our customers. Hopefully, together we can establish a positive internet presence for your website that would bring you more business and in turn greater ROI. There is no obligation on your part to hire us after the conference.

[Website Owner] Hi, Your suggestion comes at a good time as we were talking about this recently. We would be interested to see your report and welcome your reply, we do not see the need for a online conference but if you can send a report to us in word or pdf format we can consider your findings and perhaps engage you to work for us to make the website better.

[SEO Company] Thanks for your quick reply. As per our discussion, I am providing the detailed analysis of your website below:
Page Index By Google: 251
Back-ward links: 6
Canonicalization Issue: Found
HTML Validation: 6 Errors
Reverse IP: 198 other sites found.
Let me know if you have any updates for me. Waiting for your reply.

[Website Owner] This is hardly a detailed analysis ? I expected a report
—————————

On investigation both companies that send the SEO emails had new websites with only mobile addresses and no postal address on the site (against regulations) additionally both website werent even optimised!

How does Google, Yahoo and Bing work?

Posted on January 10th, 2012 by James  |  Comments Off

Search engines use complex calculations to work out where in its search results a webpage will be positioned for a specific term and this goes for  for every web page for every search term. These mathematical formulas are called ranking algorithms. Although search engines don’t reveal the exact algorithms, our seo programs are designed to make your website as ‘visible’ to the search engines as possible using recognised SEO techniques.

Although the exact ranking algorithms differ from search engine to search engine, the principle is the same for Google, Yahoo, Bing and other major search engines:

1. Search engines analyze the backlinks to your website

To get high rankings on Yahoo, Google and Bing, you need good links from related website pages that point to your site. It’s a simple principle: if page a links to page b then it is a recommendation from page a to page b. The more links point to your website, the better your rankings.

The quality of the links is also important. A link that contains the keyword for which you want to have high rankings in the link text (anchor text) is better than five links with the text “click here”. A link from a website that has a related topic is better than links from unrelated sites.

2. Search engines analyze the contents of your web pages

In addition to the links, Google also analyzes the content of your web pages. Google’s technology analyses the full content of a page and factors in fonts, subdivisions and the precise location of each word.

Google also analyses the content of neighboring web pages on your site to ensure the results returned are the most relevant to a user’s query. To get your webstie on Google’s first result page, you have to optimise all factors that can influence your rankings.

3. Search engines put your web pages into context

Before a page of your website gets a high ranking for a particular keyword, Google also analyzes the content of other web pages on your site to ensure that your web page is really relevant to the topic.

That means that you must optimise different pages of your website for different keywords. The keywords should be related to the same topic. The more pages of your website your optimise for keywords about a particular topic, the more likely it is that your website will get high rankings on Google for a keyword that is related to that topic.Search engines also use other factors to rank web pages but more of that later ………….

Get more website visitors and customers

Posted on January 10th, 2012 by James  |  Comments Off

We are a website design and seo company focusing on generating new business for our clients through the internet. I will keep this brief. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to talk with you and show you how we can simultaneously save you money on your Yellow pages (and other form of advertising) and create more business for you with your website.  After all, the internet is quickly replacing most other forms of mass advertising

If you want to get the best possible results for your website in the shortest possible time, it is important that you do the right things :

Step 1: select the appropriate keywords – Its important to target relevant keywords that are related to your website and feature prominently.

Go through the keyword checklist
Use our keyword tools to find the best keywords for your website

Step 2: optimise your web pages – Built Content on the pages then optimise as many pages of your website as possible for different keywords. Your target keywords must appear in the right elements on your pages.

Step 3: get high quality backlinks – When your web pages have been optimised for the right keywords, you can start to get backlinks for your website.

Go through the link building checklist

Step 4: check the results – Our comprehensive SEO reports enables you to check the results of your optimisation activities:

Go through the results checking checklist
Check the position of your website on search engines

Step 5: optimize your AdWords ads -  In addition to organic search engine optimisation, you should also advertise your website on Google AdWords. If you do it wrong, AdWords will cost you a lot of money. If you do it right, your AdWords ads can greatly contribute to your website revenue.

Go through the AdWords checklist that we have created to enable your website to be advertised
Use the tools and tutorials to get the perfect ads for your website

If you want to be as successful as possible with your website you must do the right things in the right order. If your website has many links then you won’t get sales if your web pages aren’t designed to make a website visitor into a customer or client. If you have many optimised web pages then you still won’t get good results if you optimised for low power search terms.

More visitors and more sales for your website

Posted on January 10th, 2012 by James  |  Comments Off

Google, Yahoo and Bing handle billions of searches each month. Many of these searches are from people who are interested in the products and services that you offer on idc-guide.com.

Search engine users are some of the most qualified and motivated visitors to your website you will ever have. They have taken the initiative to hunt for online resources on a certain topic. And then they clicked your link to learn more.

We will do all the work required to give your website every chance to be viewed by these potential customers.

Why search engine optimization is important to your business

There are billions of web pages on the Internet. It’s obvious that not all of them can be listed on Google’s first result page. Search engines only list web pages that they find relevant to the searched keyword. You must make sure that your website is such a site.

For example, if search engines cannot find out that your website is relevant to the keyword “diving courses”, they won’t give your website high rankings for that keyword. Our SEO project will help your website become more visible to the search engines and that your website is relevant to keywords that are related to your business.

Things that can prevent your website success

Posted on January 10th, 2012 by James  |  Comments Off

Search engine optimisation is a difficult process. It is important that you make sure that your website does not use the following SEO methods:

  • automatically created doorway pages
  • cloaking and false redirects (showing different pages human web surfers and Google)
  • hidden text or hidden links
  • obviously paid links
  • fully automated, unrelated and centralized link farms

All of these methods are considered spam by Google and other search engines. If you use them then chances are that search engines will penalise or demote your website sooner or later.

Before we start to optimise your web pages, we have to check if you used these methods before to promote your website.

Photography Websites

Posted on January 9th, 2012 by James  |  Comments Off

This made me chuckle, we started off helping a ‘student’ with his ‘project’ for a photography website and found that we were talking to a freelance website designer that simply didnt know what he was doing, read and amuse yourself:

[Website Student] am student in uni and doing a project ,website for photography and a gallery page as all photographers have , the main reason am telling u is that i have to get web designer’s opinion about the idea’s which i got for doing a gallery pages. . if you dont mind is ok if i feel  free to show my ideas and ask about ur opinion.this is part of research  please > > > > please thank you for your help with the photography website

[Delicious Webdesign] Sure we have done a few photographers websites so you have chosen a good company to get an opinion from, feel free to send us details

[Website Student] thats good then thank you  soo much,  these are ideas which i came up with the idea that i got for gallery page:
first idea – I came up with was that images if the users click on any image it will sort of pop out and on the picture it will have desc of image e.g location and click on image to go next.
second idea – do a gallery in flash with thumbnails at button of  a large image at top and users can zoom in and out
third idea – is grid gallery with small size of images and if you click on one it will show the full size (full screen) of that image.
fourth idea – ones like where the image takes up the whole background and you click through a line of images changing the background image using images as navigation

I need your opinion.

[Delicious Webdesign]

Avoid flash (not compatible with non-flash enabled browsers and ipad iphone, not seo friendly, expensive to create and expensive to maintain / add to).

The gallery look depends on the style of the photographer / photography website but attention should be paid the the SEO and the potential for adding to or changing the gallery in the future.

Therefore options 1,2 or 4 would be fine:

Examples

http://www.roastphotography.co.uk/select-gallery.html

http://www.ginasmithphotography.com/photography-portfolio

http://www.denva-interiors.co.uk/kitchens-gallery.html

Thoughts welcome

[Website Student] Thank you for ur feedback, as u have designed website for photographer’s were they ur client sif yes can i ask u question please. I have client which am developing website for can u please guide to find his requirements what i should do

[Delicious Webdesign] Sure what is your client ?

[Website Student] My client is a photographer , what else do u need to know? I need ur help with to find out my client requirements so i can do a specification please, or can you do this for me also?

[Delicious Webdesign] Ok give me your clients requirements for this website then I can help

[Website Student] outline here is goes

want a website were he can show his images
images should have different categories for example spots, cities
he wants me to have to different background colors for gallery pages
he wants simply search engine
he wants contact form so people can contact him
if users wants to buy the images they can contact him by contact forum
I can trust u right this stays between me and u please as its for my client hope u can understand thank you

[Delicious Webdesign] ok you have his very basic requirements, do you not feel as if you can deliver this to him? what are your doubts?

[Website Student] lol na i can deliver it. my main question to u was that i want to do specification for him what should i include in that so i can put it in my report, hey can u please tell me how i can do search engine for my website simply one where users can search for the images which are on photographer website please is there any scripts available or ani thing please

[Delicious Webdesign] It sounds like you have taken on a commercial project that you simply have no idea of how to deliver, was looking at photography websites that have been recently asking for website redesign / seo quotes and found the a few websites that we are currently tendering for, its a shame you cant help us with our workload as we need additional developers to build our photography websites to the standard that we have already build the other ones in our portfolio. (playing along now :) )

[Website Student] no its not that i think u have misunderstood me i have done project desgin brief with him and thank you vey much i know how to deliver project

[Delicious Webdesign] I believe you are not a student but work or own a website that is for photography (found out that the email address used is on a photography website !!)
